Daring Greatly
"It is not the critic who counts;
Not the man who points out how the strong (wo)man stumbles,
Or where the do-er of deeds could have done better.
The credit belongs to the (wo)man who is actually in the arena;
Whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood."
-Theodore Roosevelt
If No One Else Has Told You Yet...
I'm telling you: Well done courageous one!
You have stepped into the arena.
And I am proud of you.
The speech "Citizenship in a Republic" was delivered by Theodore Roosevelt in Paris, April 23rd, 1910.
Like the Wright Brothers, who had shown humanity that flight was possible, Roosevelt's speech inspires those of us that:
Reject bench-warming critics
Step into the arena
Get our hands dirty
Courageously do
This month, dear tea-drinker, an homage to we who are...
Daring Greatly
"There is no effort without error and shortcoming..."
"The credit belongs to the (wo)man...
Who strives valiantly
Who errs
Who comes short
Again and again
but
Who does actually strive to do the deeds.
Who knows great enthusiasms and great devotions."
There will be setbacks...
You know.
And when they arrive, I remind myself:
Don't give up, Shannon.
You too:
Don't give up, dear Tea-Drinker.
"Who Spends Him/Herself for a Worthy Cause..."
"Who, at best, knows the triumph of high achievement..
Who, at worst, if (s)he fails, at least fails while daring greatly."
This farmer...
She's Nourished hundreds of children.
She's Uplifted thousands of tea-drinkers like you.
She's Inspired countless followers like you.
Just by stepping into the arena again today.
Make No Mistake
Your efforts are not ordinary.
Every day you... rise... care... listen... breath... give... do... create...bless...
You are daring greatly, too.
"His/Her place shall never be with those cold and timid souls..."
"Who neither know victory nor defeat."
I am:
You are:
Sharing your art with the world.
Stepping into a new career.
Going back to school.
Raising a child.
We are:
Not timid.
Brene Brown summarizes it best:
“Nothing has transformed my life more than realizing that it’s a waste of time to evaluate my worthiness by weighing the reaction of the people in the stands.” ― Brené Brown, Daring Greatly
Let our days begin with:
A quiet-confident sip of tea.
A def ear to the critics (in the stands or in our heads).
A courageous step back into the arena.
Daring Greatly
As always:
Thank you
I'm honored to be your herbal tea farmer.
Be well,
Shannon
